2024 Mazda CX-30 2.0L HEV: Beauty Evolved

February 22, 2024, Manila Philippines--Discover an evolved form of beauty in the new Mazda CX-30 HEV. Now with higher equipment levels, including enhanced safety and convenience features, the CX-30 crossover cements its position as the most elegant in the market.

Designed and engineered for those who seek to elevate themselves from the ordinary, the CX-30 combines the bold stance of an SUV with the sleek profile of a coupe. The award-winning design is a sophisticated evolution of Mazda’s KODO design philosophy and embodies Utsuroi—using the interplay of light and shadow to form the foundation of its captivating design.

Mazda’s signature wing on the CX-30 takes a sharper and deeper form achieving a strong, refined look, while the diagonal angle of the rear window gives the vehicle a distinct silhouette. The narrow arch shape of the tailgate makes for a powerful stance, with no compromises to its luggage capacity. Further elevating this sporty elegance is the signature wing’s new Black Chrome finish. Piano Black window garnishes complete the exterior changes.

For 2024, the new CX-30 is available in six colors—Soul Red Crystal, Machine Gray, Platinum Quartz, Polymetal Gray, Deep Crystal Blue, and Snowflake White Pearl.

The new CX-30’s interior focuses on providing a high-quality, human-centric space. Taking on the Buddhist philosophy of Ma or the beauty of empty space, it conveys the spirit of infinite potentiality; potentiality that the CX-30 unlocks each time the driver gets behind the wheel. This sense of minimalism and symmetry creates a state of harmony, allowing the driver to remain focused, yet remaining open and inviting for everyone onboard.

For the passengers, ingenious details such as a slightly slanted rear foot well provide more foot and knee room, while the subtly rounding of the side sill in the door jams ensures comfort when entering or exiting, without creating an unsightly gap in the door seams. In order to ensure such, Mazda’s designers have gone as far as creating a life-size test model just to optimize the height of the CX-30’s trunk release button.

Complementary tones and high-quality textures give the new CX-30’s interior an upscale look and feel. New gun metallic accents on the door handles, dashboard, AC vents & controls, and transmission shifter ring are appealing to the eyes. The seats are now swathed in a sophisticated combination of Terracotta Leather & Black Leganu Suede upholstery, while Black Leather & Leganu Suede with contrasting Terracotta stitching tastefully adorn the cabin. The seats are highly ergonomic, promoting the spine’s natural curvature while also providing a clear field of view of the road ahead. The controls have all been optimized for operating stability, ease, and comfort—down to the use of consistent lighting and font types.

“The Japanese master craftsmen have always prized simplicity of form, of being beautifully pure,” says Steven Tan, President and CEO of Mazda Philippines. “This inspired our designers to trim back elements and create something dynamic yet elegant, restrained yet vital. This is how we perceive Japanese aesthetics—a sensibility that has created emotionally moving cars.”

Beyond mere beauty, the new Mazda CX-30 features upgraded standard equipment levels such as a high-resolution 10.25-inch Mazda Connect Infotainment Display. Rather than offer a touchscreen display, it uses intuitive physical controls on the center console and steering wheel for minimal distraction. This is complemented by enhanced smartphone integration through wireless Apple CarPlay. Devices can also be charged using the new wireless charger or dual USB-C ports. Other features in the CX-30 include a 12-speaker Bose sound system, an electric glass sunroof, a front windshield-projected Active Driving Display, 360-degree view monitor, and a power tailgate with memory.

For added peace of mind, the new CX-30 is fitted with increased levels of safety. The new Adaptive LED headlights, Mazda’s top-range lighting technology, automatically brighten or dim individual beams to maximize illumination without blinding other vehicles. At speeds up to 40 kph, the system illuminates a wider area for better visibility of sidewalks and pedestrians—helpful when passing through busy city streets or intersections. At speeds above 95 kph, the system raises the illumination for better long-range visibility to help drivers spot potential hazards, traffic signs, or road exits earlier and give them more time to react accordingly.

The CX-30’s i-Activsense Driver Assist Technology has been upgraded with the addition of Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCTA), Front Cross Brake Support (FCBS), Rear Cross Brake Support (RCBS), and Driver Monitoring System (DMS). These are in addition to the already extensive list of advanced driver assist features such as Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS), Smart Brake Support – Front (SBS-F) with Forward Obstruction Warning (FOW), Smart Brake Support – Rear (SBS-R), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) with Lane Keep Assist (LKA), and Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). Together with other safety features such as seven SRS airbags and parking sensors all around, it is the safest CX-30 yet.

Enriching every drive, the CX-30 is powered by a 2.0-liter e-Skyactiv-G engine equipped with the 24-volt Mazda Hybrid system. This innovative system captures and stores energy that is normally wasted during braking into a lightweight lithium-ion battery. That stored energy is then used to drive an integrated electric motor that sends additional power to the drivetrain, while also powering the CX-30’s electrical system. In certain circumstances, it can coast on electric power alone. The compact motor generates an extra 6.9 PS and 49 Nm, helping boost overall outputs to 164 PS at 6,000 rpm and 213 Nm at 4,000 rpm. This is mated to a Skyactiv-Drive 6-speed automatic with Sports Mode and Paddle Shifters.

Sharing its DNA with the Mazda3, the CX-30 adopts the same Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture and human-centric design principles to enhance the sense of Jinba-ittai between driver and car. The application of sophisticated vehicle dynamics technologies, like G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC Plus), ensures consistent and smooth vehicle behavior.

“We are leaving no stone unturned. The steadfast application of Japanese design and craftsmanship principles means the new Mazda CX-30 delivers a premium experience that exceeds its owners’ expectations. It is the embodiment of Japanese mastery and is a compact crossover that will stand the test of time,” says Tan.

The 2024 Mazda CX-30 2.0L HEV is priced at P 1,995,000 and is offered with Mazda’s industry-leading ownership package—a 5-year Free Service Plan which covers the expenses of periodic maintenance at either 6-month or 10,000-kilometer intervals for up to five years or 100,000 kilometers.
