May 16, 2016—-Mazda Philippines held the very first Mazda Interclub Basketball Tournament last May 14, 2016 at Northeast Greenhills basketball court.
The tournament aims to bring together the various Mazda owners clubs in a series of friendly basketball matches. “Mazda Philippines is proud and honored to host the first ever Mazda Interclub Basketball Tournament,” says Steven Tan, President and CEO of BAP/ Mazda Philippines. Tan adds, “Mazda owners are some of the most passionate car lovers in the country and we want to channel this passion to promote sportsmanship and camaraderie among all the Mazda-affiliated car clubs.”
Six teams are participating in the six-week long tournament – Club Mazda Philippines, Mazda3 SkyActiv Club, Mazda Tech Philippines, CX-5 Club Philippines and Mazda2ners Philippines. A squad from Mazda Philippines will likewise contest the league championship title.
The tournament kicked off with a basketball clinic at the Northeast Greenhills basketball court. This was followed by a parade of the participating teams and a ceremonial oath of sportsmanship led by Dave Asuncion, Mazda Philippines General Manager for Sales and Marketing.
“We are aiming to bring together the various Philippine Mazda clubs under the spirit of friendly competition,” says Ms. Sherlyn Co, Mazda Philippines Communications and Relationship Manager. She adds, “We are hoping that through this tournament, all the clubs will build stronger bonds with each other and unite towards the common promotion and appreciation of the Mazda brand.”
Succeeding tournament dates will be on May 14,15, 21,22, 28. Championship will be on June 4 and will be contested by the top two teams.
