Berjaya Auto Philippines (BAP) has officially opened its doors to the Philippine market as the country’s exclusive distributor of Mazda vehicles, parts, and accessories. The announcement was made last 18 January 2013 with the members of the Philippine and international media, followed immediately by their first Dealer Convention at Whitespace, Makati City.
Berjaya Auto Philippines officially announced their start of business in a press conference followed by their first dealer convention last Friday. Present during the announcement where Mazda Motor Corporation’s Executive Officer, Mr. Kiyoshi Fujiwara, Deputy General Manager for Global Sales and Marketing, Mr. Hidesuke Takesue, Global Sales and Marketing Project Manager, Mr. Yoshinori Nishihara, together with Berjaya Group Executive Director, Dato’ Francis Lee, Bermaz Motor Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Ben Yeoh, and Bermaz Motor Executive Director, Dato’ Amer Hamzah.
“We are committed to further grow and strengthen the Mazda brand in the South East Asian Region. With the success of Bermaz in Malaysia, the addition of Berjaya Auto Philippines is a testament to that commitment,” said Dato’ Francis Lee, Berjaya Group Executive Director.
Marking the significant event was the dotting of the Daruma doll eye, a traditional Japanese practice where one eye of the doll is blotted signifying the company’s set goal, and marking the other eye after actually achieving the goal. “We are looking forward to replicating the success of Bermaz [in Malaysia] here in the Philippines. With an already established dealer network, and more exciting products and offers to come, we know that we can become one of the top choices of car buyers,” said Steven Tan, Chief Executive Officer of Berjaya Auto Philippines.
For their part, Philippine Mazda dealer principals namely Mr. Dexter Co (Mazda Alabang), Mr. Jun Pe (Mazda Greenhills), Mr. Edmund Yee (Mazda Makati), Mr. Anthony Cheng (Mazda Quezon Avenue & Pasig), Mr. Albert Go (Mazda Cebu), Mr. Rolando Ball (Mazda Pampanga), Mr. Paolo Borromeo (Mazda Batangas), Mr. Levy Laus (Mazda Dagupan), and Mr. Danny Chua (Mazda Cagayan de Oro) formally signed their Dealer Sales and Service Agreement with BAP as commitment and dedication to consistently offer high-quality standards in sales, service, and spare parts throughout the Philippines.
Berjaya Auto Philippines is also set to further its Mazda dealer network reach with the addition of six more Mazda dealerships including Mazda Pasig, which opened last Saturday, 19 January, the day right after the launch of BAP. Five more Mazda dealers are expected to open this year namely, Mazda Cavite, Mazda Iloilo, Mazda Cabanatuan, Mazda Tarlac, and Mazda Davao to cater Mazda customers outside Metro Manila.
